Business Incubator Association of New York State, Inc. 

The purposes of BIANYS, Inc., are to expand the resources available to start-up companies and to work with policy-makers on matters affecting the growth and development of incubator-based enterprises; to promote through cooperation and on a broadly integrative basis the educational and entrepreneurial activities of incubators within the state; and to establish a structure and ongoing process to network business incubators, incubating/incubated companies, and other interested parties.

Location: Albany. BIANYS represents an association of many incubators throughout New York State. 


Business First

Business First is a business-focused portal to the wealth of incentives, programs and resources available to companies – large and small – within New York State and those that choose to relocate here.

Business Mentor NY

Business Mentor NY is the State’s first large scale, hands-on small business mentoring program that helps NYS entrepreneurs and established small businesses overcome challenges to grow their business.

The Business Utility Zone Gateway ( is an award-winning entrepreneurial education and resource community tailored to the interests and needs of freelancers, the self-employed, small and medium-sized business owners in all 50 states, District of Columbia (DC) and Puerto Rico (PR).

Entrepreneurial Assistance Center Network 

Local offices provide instruction, training, technical assistance and support services to individuals who have recently started their own business.

Location: Statewide – 24 local offices


Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses

In the United States, Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses is a $500 million investment to help entrepreneurs create jobs and economic opportunity by providing them with greater access to education, financial capital and business support services.

Location: Statewide - Chicago, Cleveland, Detroit, Houston, Long Beach, Los Angeles, Miami, New Orleans, New York, Philadelphia and Salt Lake City.


NYC Business Solutions

NYC Business Solutions is a set of free services offered by the NYC Department of Small Business Services to help businesses start, operate, and expand in New York City. Whether you need financing assistance, legal advice, ways to score new business opportunities with the City, recruiting advice, or help with permits or licenses, NYC Business Solutions can work for you – for free.

Location: All 5 boroughs of New York City


Small Business Development Center Networks

America’s SBDC represents America’s nationwide network of Small Business Development Centers (SBDCs) – the most comprehensive small business assistance network in the United States and its territories. Hosted by leading universities, colleges and state economic development agencies, and funded in part by the United States Congress through a partnership with the U.S. Small Business Administration, nearly 1,000 service centers are available to provide no-cost business consulting and low-cost training.

Small Business Administration

Since its founding on July 30, 1953, the U.S. Small Business Administration has delivered millions of loans, loan guarantees, contracts, counseling sessions and other forms of assistance to small businesses. SBA provides assistances primarily through its four programmatic functions: Access to Capital, Entrepreneurial Development, Government Contracting, and Advocacy.

 Science, Industry, and Business Library

The Science, Industry and Business Library (SIBL) is a premier public business library with comprehensive print materials, electronic resources, and services for start-ups and established businesses seeking expansion, and for job seekers from entry to executive levels.

Location: Online resources available. The library is located in Manhattan.


Strategic Steps for Growth

Strategic Steps for Growth is a program offered jointly by the NYC Department of Small Business Services and the Leonard N. Stern School of Business Berkley Center for Entrepreneurship & Innovation at New York University. The program covers business assessment, financial data, marketing & sales, building staff, accessing capital & government contracts.
