What is your role at EGF?

I am an Assistant Vice President of Business Advisory Services at EGF. In this capacity, I work one-on-one with EGF clients to help them create solutions for their businesses as well as provide them with guidance to help them improve their business management skills. I also manage two key programs as well as working on business development initiatives.

What EGF programs and initiatives do you manage?

I manage Chase PRO Neighborhood and The Entrepreneurs of Color Fund in the South Bronx, two programs funded by JPMorgan Chase Foundation. PRO Neighborhood aims to extend capital to businesses located in NYC's underserved communities, and The Entrepreneurs of Color Fund in South Bronx aims to provide capital to minority entrepreneurs operating a business or living in South Bronx. Both programs have a goal of providing capital to small businesses to help them grow their businesses and create and/or preserve jobs. EGF is a U.S. Treasury Certified Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI), and through these programs we are committed to helping small businesses access capital to grow and thrive.

What is your favorite part about working at EGF?

I was drawn to a career in the economic development sector because I wanted to do work that has a real, tangible impact on people's lives and our community at large. My job at EGF allows me to accomplish my goal, as I am able to help entrepreneurs obtain the capital they need to grow their businesses, while simultaneously helping them gain skills that help them become better business managers. It's great to see my clients build personal and business wealth and improve their business skills overtime. My favorite part about working at EGF is creating content for our business library resource center, where business owners can learn about business skills spanning all aspects of business management. I invite all entrepreneurs to browse the library.

What do you love about working with small businesses?

Every day I am awed by my clients. They are smart, creative, and talented! They have unique and interesting backgrounds and experiences, and all have a tremendous amount of perseverance, ambitions, grit, and discipline. These are qualities that I admire and try to apply in my personal and professional life. I learn from my clients as much as they learn from me.

What is a fun fact about you?

I have eight nephews and nieces and marvel at their different personalities. They all live in West Africa, which is where I am from!
